Before I start my review, I would like to give you some information about 'basenfasten'. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was developed by the Wacker Family in 1997 and is meant as a treatment for detox and relief. When we talk about 'basen-fasten' we talk about the voluntary renunciation of acid food (animal proteins and corn) for a limited time to cleanse our body from acidic toxins. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are several methods for 'basen-fasten': you can do it only during a weekend (like me) or over months for which I would suggest to get more information. Talking about the foods you are allowed to eat, there are also some differences of course. But let's stay with this one. </div>

<b>What you are NOT allowed to consume during this detox: </b></div>

<li style="text-align: justify;">coffee, even decaf</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">black,green and white tea</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">mate, fruit and rooibos tea</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">alcohol</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">milk</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">sugary drinks and foods</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">sausage, lunch meats , hams and bacon</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">smoked, brined or pickled foods</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">shell fish</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">garlic</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">fast food</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On a strictly 'alkaline' day (free from acid food) you mainly eat vegetables, ripe fruits, salad, sprouts, herbs and a few nuts and seeds. Complete shopping lists can be found on the internet or in books or you can check the list below. You should also drink 6 to 8 glasses of mineral water and diluted herbal tea. </div>

<b>Why I did this cleansing? </b></h4>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Since I cut my finger weeks ago, I had to take antibiotics to prevent an inflammation. Unfortunately my body stored a lot of water which made me feel really bad, bloated and in some way very uneasy. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So when my coach returned from a seminar three weeks, he told me about 'basenfasten' and how this can have an impact on the body and the overall well-being. Therefor I wanted to give it a try to purify my body and get rid of that retained water. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
What was my detox like?</h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was mainly based on lemons, grapefruits, apples,hazelnuts, cucumbers, a self-made bouillon, boiled eggs and a 'basica'-'basen' product. </div>

<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How I felt after this detox-weekend?</b></h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First I was a little bit concerned about the amount of food, which appeared as 'nothing' to me. I couldn't imagine that this would satisfy my hunger. Waking up on Saturday, I was curious about how I would feel during the day. My first thoughts were, 'well probably sluggish and grumpy'... </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Starting my day with a glass of warm lemon-water woke me up instantly, probably because of the sour flavor of the lemon. As I knew that I had to wait for 2 hours until my bouillon was ready, I had one of the three apples I was allowed to eat during the day. This really saved me as I probably wouldn't have survived another 2 hours without food. So far so good. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I couldn't wait for my bouillon to be ready because it smelled so good. Meanwhile I prepared the cucumbers, the grapefruits and the hazelnuts, to have an equal apportionment over the day, just like the nettle tea that I already prepared in the morning. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Despite the fact that I had to pee all the time, I didn't feel sluggish or hungry, which really surprised me to be honest. My body felt less bloated and I a lot better in my skin. I could clearly see that something has changed, which the scale also proved me. I lost 2 kilos, which should be mainly water. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately, at the end of Sunday, I had some headaches, which didn't surprise me. I think it's because I couldn't eat any carbs over these two days and my brain needed fuel again. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

So all in one, it was a great way to cleanse my body from acidic toxins. I definitely feel better now, and I think that I will do this detox-program again once in a while when I feel bloated and uneasy. </div>

It was by far tthe best detox I have done. The Nikki-Sharp 5-Days-Detox (review <a href="http://lifting-fairy.blogspot.lu/2014/04/5day-detox-review.html"><b>here</b></a>) was great as well, but now that I've learned about alkaline food and its advantages I am more convinced about the 'basen-fasting' program. </div>

As the autumn season is about to start, a lot of new athletes are preparing for their first show and are experiencing all kind of things that come with a contest-prep. You must be so excited for your first show, I was too. But what comes next? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are some things that you have to brace yourself for: </div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><b>The hardest thing for me was the water depletion as you can't drink the last day prior the contest. But the day post-contest you will be shocked... because you gained so much weight... </b></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, gaining weight after your competition shouldn't make you freak out. If you have cut water for your show, it's pretty normal that, when you drink water again, you gain this amount in water weight, especially if you also enjoy an epic cheat meal, which you deserve. Don't panic, it's only WATER weight, NOT fat. </div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><b>Ask you coach for a reverse-diet: </b></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If your coach hasn't mentioned this, ask him. Especially when you're a beginner, it's important that you get back on track as soon as possible, all step by step. Plus, having a guidance after your competition will stop you from going crazy with bad , yet so yummy, food. It's very improtant that you stop eating crap no later than 36 hours post-contest as your body will start to store everything it gets in order to fill up its reserves. </div>
<div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><b>You will hardly be satisfied with your physique:</b></li>
</ul>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once you have been in the best shape of your life, it can be extremely hard to feel happy with your body again. Anything other than your stage-shape makes you feel 'fat' or 'soft'. Trust me, you are NOT. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You are just at a more maintainable shape. Staying stage-lean for a long period can be extremely dangerous for you health as your body is at its limits. And catching a virus before your show or at a very shredded state is anything but fun, believe me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I was 1 week out of my first show, I caught a gastro-intestinal infection and I felt like crap. I had no energy, was dehydrated and I was so happy when the infection was gone one day prior the show. And now? Less cardio, no strict diet anymore, maybe even a week off from training... What should you do with your life now?</div>

Well, I have a great advice for you: Spend time with your family and friends. I am sure they missed you a lot during your prep as you couldn't enjoy a get-together at the restaurant , nor at the cinema as sweets and temptations were lurking everywhere. They will be happy to have a lovely YOU back. </div>

<li style="text-align: justify;"><b>Cardio, is that spanish?</b></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Even though you don't have to hit a fasted cardio session every morning, try to keep your cardio up. This will help your body to adjust. By all the means, take a week or even two off from gym. But I would recommend to keep up for some daily cardio. This doesn't have to be a 1-hour hiit session, where you are dripping in sweat. Walking your dog, going for a hike or simply enjoying a bike tour is already enough. </div>

<li style="text-align: justify;"><b>You may look like a snake shedding its skin:</b></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Depending in which federation you compete, you may have a very dark tan which doesn't come off evenly. This may also depend on the tan you use and how many layers you put on. Getting a great scrub and a scrub-glove makes it easier for you to get rid of that tan. Try to get it off from your hand, face and neck first, as people will probably think that you have experimented with a bad self-tanning lotion. And don't forget to put on a moisturizer afterwards, your skin will thank you. Winning is not everything. This is much more than just a trophy. Getting through a competition diet, getting on stage and completing what you've started already makes you a champion. Try to explain this to your family and friends. They will be proud of you anyway. </div>

In Bodybuilding, no matter what category you compete in, you will get more butt-kicks than trophies. Stepping on stage with your best possible shape makes you a winner and getting a trophy is just like the cherry on top of the cake. </div>

You will feel lost, unmotivated and sometimes even a little depressed. Try not to let these bad thoughts consume you. This is pretty normal as you have been so enthusiastic for your show. Try to stay positive. </div>

Don't bother the show organiser as they probably get hundreds of emails for feedbacks. If you want feedback, look at the official stage photographs. Decide on a game plan for your next show. This will keep you motivated as well. </div>

Recently there has been a huge push for women to love their body and to be more positive about them.</div>

Which is totally awesome. I think the worst thing you can do is making fun of somebody else whether they are overweight or totally muscular.</div>

Here are some things I was told myself and what I think about them:</div>

<li>Some people think it's okay to call 'us' (bikini/fitness/physique-athletes) gross just because we are more muscular. Calling someone 'gross' while that person isn't doing something 'gross' makes you an idiot. </li>
<li>It's not unusual that I get asked to eat something, like junk or 'just that little bite' of a muffin. Why do you feel the need to interrupt my diet? Mind your own business and food and don't bother me and my meal plan. </li>
<li>'This can't be healthy...' Yep, I'm sick of that one. We are always working out too much, taking too many supplements , maybe we're also injecting some stuff,who knows? While athletes have a low body percentage they can still be healthy and active. You call athletes unhealthy just because they have less body fat, but what about people eating junk and refined sugars all day? Is that healthy?</li>
<li>Of course everybody has their preferences, which is good, otherwise it would be a bit boring. BUT telling a fit women she looks like a man or unattractive just because she has a shredded body is just plain stupid and you probably don't have the intellect to realize how awesome we are. </li>
<li>If you lift, you probably have heard these sentences at least once:</li>

Well sweet-heart, if you want that 'fitness model' body you probably have to hit the gym. </div>

Stop lying! I am sick of girls saying they don't like men with muscles. Because EVERY TIME we are on the road as a team, meaning with our bodybuilders, the boys get the craziest and flirting looks ever. </div>

Where does this fuzz come from that bodybuilders or athletes are stupid, have no intellect or are brainless? I know many athletes that have more intellect than 90% of those people judging them. </div>

<li style="text-align: justify;">Why can't we just be whatever we want to be? Either we are too skinny, too fat, too muscular, too blonde, too women, too alive or whatever. This is an unfortunate truth. And you know I'm right.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Saying that she has lost her boobs because of the sports is like saying she has big boobs because she's fat. Women say things out of jealousy. However,there is seriously no damn reason for women to hate on each other. Chicks before dicks, right? </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Overweight people have probably also received backhanded and cowardly compliments like <i>'You're so pretty for a girl your size</i>'. Now athletes seem to get them too. Here are some of them:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">
' <i>I wish I had your commitment. It's so impressive, but I don't want to spend my free-time in the gym. But I totally respect you</i>'<br />
<i>'Some people think female lifters are manly, but you really embrace your muscles, great thing for you!' </i></div>
Do you really think we are THAT stupid and naive? </li>

<li style="text-align: justify;">Talking about 'free time'. Why the hell do people keep commenting on how long we are staying in the gym and losing our 'free time'? Helloo... the gym IS our free time. It's OUR place where we can switch off the world from your bulls***, from everyday worries and simply enjoy and love what we're doing.Why is it o.k for every kind of hobby to spent hours and hours on it, but when it comes to your own health and body improvement it's just 'too time consuming'. BLAH. </li>

So I had all the place and equipment to myself to hit a great upper body workout consisting of biceps, triceps and side delts. Right now I am focusing on my upper body ever since I realized that my back and legs are my strong points and develop pretty fast. And you know what they say about your weak-points? <i> </i></div>

Sunday was my favorite workout day of the week because the whole Team Powerfood's J-M.B came to Factory4. Seeing my teammates again and exchanging experiences and talking about the different training methods felt really great. </div>

The looks we got from the few other people when we entered the gym were priceless. It was one of those 'Walking-in-while-there-is-an-explosion-in-the-back' kind of moments haha. Of course we have some great bodybuilders and athletes in our gym too, but when an entire team arrives, then this can be pretty impressive I think. </div>

While the boys hit an intensive shoulder and back workout, the other focused on legs and I trained my biceps, triceps and shoulders (side&back). </div>

After our routines, we , the girls, decided to do a little bikini-posing workshop since the dance hall wasn't occupied. Sammie and Anne, our new aspiring bikini athletes, did pretty well and I think it won't take long until they get the hang of posing. For their first posing workshop ever it was really good, considering that the boys had to joke around in the back which made it very hard to focus. I think a posing-workshop once a month should be enough to get the perfection as both of them have a great body control. </div>

To finish this great day, we went to a Chinese restaurant, named Belle-City in Dudelange, to devour (almost) all the sushis from the sushi train.Speaking literally...</div>

Many people are working out the entire year only to that desired bikini body for the upcoming summer vacation. Of course summer vacation sounds super nice, especially when you're on the road for fun and have booked an all inclusive hotel where you have to worry about nothing.</div>

But isn't it a bit contradictory that you change your eating habits BEFORE you go on holiday and tend to completely forget about in DURING your holiday? Of course you're on vacation, but does that mean that your efforts don't matter anymore? </div>

How can you make your trip healthier?</div>

1. Do your research before booking: </h4>
</div>

<li>Find out what type of bars/restaurants are near your hotel and which ones serve the type of food you want and need.</li>
<li>If you want to scale your food, book a room with a small kitchen or an apartment</li>
<li>Find out where the best and nearest grocery store is (especially if you don't get lean meat or something similar in the hotel)</li>
<li>Pack healthy snacks (more here)</li>
<li>Limit
your alcohol intake while lying at the pool or on the beach. A juice, e.g fresh lime
juice, is healthier,way more refreshing and much more
thirst-quenching.</li>

2. Be Active:</h4>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li>Book a hotel with a nice fitness area and a huge sports-program or check the surroundings for a nearby gym. </li>
<li>Unless you're wearing high-heels, try to walk everywhere. (except when it hot as hell outdoors,don't want your circulatory system to crash down ). Walking to the restaurant in the sunset with your beloved can be much more romantic then taking the cab, plus you get to see the city. </li>
<li>Move in the plane. Long flights can be very boring and get the blood stuck... Therefor stand up at least once every hour. Stretch out a bit in the aisle and do some movements to keep the blood flowing.</li>

3. Chill out: </h4>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li>AsI said, long flights can be challenging, especially when you have a crying baby on board. Lean back and try to 'meditate' a little and try to switch off the 'world' to get rid of that inner stress.</li>
<li>Bring your headphones. Listening to music makes it easier for you to chill and you don't get upset because of a crying baby or your neighbor listening to heavy metal music. </li>

4. ZzZzZz:</h4>

<li>Don't go out the day before you leave for vacation. A stressed and tired body is the worst thing on a holiday-trip. </li>

5. Water: </h4>

6. Boost your immune system BEFOREHAND: </h4>

But after many straining gym-sessions from January on, it felt really good to take a week off from the gym. My body was already screaming for a rest and made me feel it by giving me some aches here and there.</div>

Usually you're supposed to take a break every 8-10 weeks, but as I was preparing for my competitions and afterwards for the guest-posings, I couldn't go on a break earlier.</div>

To be honest, it felt quite awkward to leave for work in the morning without packing my gym bag and going home straight from the office without hitting the gym.</div>

While the first two days felt like freedom with a slight feeling of having forgotten something all the time (because I didn't have to pack my gym-bag), the last two days were filled with boredom and I couldn't wait for Monday to arrive. Yes, you heard right, I was looking forward to a Monday. </div>

<li>My very first pet was a bunny, called Speed. But he wasn't a normal dwarf-bunny, he was more a mixture of a real rabbit and a dwarf bunny. </li>
<li>I had two lovely fluffyballs before Mumble. Balu and Pumba, also Bernese Mountain Dogs that I loved endlessly. ( Run Free my loves) </li>
<li>I did gymnastics for 12 years and own a lot of medals (so proud about that) </li>
<li>I did athletics for one summer season. Even though I loved it very much, it was just too cold to go outside in winter for a run or even for cross-run... I definitely hate sports outside, in Winter of course. </li>
<li>I have a Jazz Dance Diploma from the 'Conservatoire du Luxembourg' with a grande distinction.</li>
<li>I thaught Pole Dance to myself and taught beginner classes for almost 3 years</li>
<li>People used to call me 'little dutch' because I had very white-blonde hair, deep blue eyes and a tanned skin all the time. (unfortunately not anymore)</li>
<li>My best friend (except my sister) was my first friend and we met right after her birth. (Because I was born in April and she in May)</li>
<li>In 3rd grade I almost cut off a finger due to a dare. The thing I had to throw turned out to be glass and not plastics... whoops. </li>
<li>I'm a little maniac for cleaning and tidying up, already had that when I was very young. </li>
<li>I used to believe that when the airbag in the car bursts, sandwiches would pop out. This was actually because I used to place my feet on the airbag when I could sit in front and to prevent me from doing this my mum told me that the airbag might open and then the sandwiches will fly through the car. ( The sandwiches were actually lying ON the cupboard... so it was a big misunderstanding haha) </li>
<li>When I was a little fairy I never touched my navel because I thought my butt would fell of... ( yep you may laugh that's really funny haha) </li>
<li>I have a huge fear of hornets and wasps because I was tung by a huge hornet that almost killed me as the sting was near the heart... So no matter where I am, and I really mean NO MATTER WHERE, when a wasp or hornet appears I am running away... sorrynotsorry</li>
<li> When I get a laughing fit I sound like a guinea pig at its loudest squeaking.</li>

Glucose is then transported to your tissues. The remaining glucose is used
either as fuel for your brains, muscles and other cell functions, to top up
your glycogen reserves in the muscles and liver , or (worst scenario) is stored as
fat in adipose tissue, and thus prevents you to look hot as hell during
summer.</span></div>

if you want to get ready for summer and burn fat, high insulin levels
aren't the way to go as it will prevent the stored fat to be burned and

sensibility is as its highest during the first part of the day, especially after you
woke up. This means that your body actually can consume and process carbs better
in the morning, but this doesn't mean that you should eat carbs in the morning,
especially when you want to get lean. You should try to keep your insulin
levels low by eating a healthy and balanced amount of good fats and lean
protein.</span></div>

Everybody has that one friend who can eat whatever she likes but still stays super skinny, right? </div>

I know this sounds unfair and you may hate that person for complaining about it, but just imagine how your friend feels... Maybe she doesn't want to be that skinny... Don't you also search for support when you're starting a new journey? Well the same goes for her and her goals.</div>

Naturally skinny people face a lot of discrimination as the general public follows the cut and dried opinions of others. If someone is underweight, it doesn't mean that they have an eating disorder. Your genetics or your satiety cues define how your body looks. Some people can feel fuller faster , so they simply eat less, and some people have to eat more to feel full after a meal.</div>

Of course underweight people are opposed to a lot of health risk just as overweight and obese people. The common side effects are a lack of energy, nutritional deficiencies, a weakened immune system, osteoporosis and the loss of menstrual function and complications with pregnancy (the last two are of course just for women).</div>

As I always preach, your eating habits matter the most. But before you jump on the bulking-train, make sure to consult a doctor who can rule out other health issues that might contribute to your weight loss, just as thyroid problems After that, follow the guidelines of a nutritionist who can adapt your diet program according to your individual needs. </div>

In case you want to try it yourself, here is a short list of what might help you: </div>
<ol style="text-align: justify;">
<li><b> Food Diary: </b><br />To work out the issue of your dietary habits, log your food (what and when you eat). Online programs like MyFitnessPal or Fitday might help you to track your meals and calories. </li>
<li><b>Add up:</b><br />After you worked out your current caloric intake, add 200 calories to begin with. Adjust up or down, depending on how fast you want to gain weight. </li>
<li><b> Quality over quantity: </b><br />Instead of fatty and processed foods like pizza, burgers or chips, try to choose nutrient-dense food like lean meat, vegetables, fruits and complex carbs. <li><b>Snacking:</b><br />Between your main meals, grab for calorie-dense snacks like nuts, dried fruits, yoghurt , avocados etc. When leaving the house, pack your snacks for calories on the go. (more here ) </li>
<li><b>Drink your calories:</b><br />In order of drinking high sugary beverages like soda , go for healthy filling beverages like smoothies or protein shakes. It can be difficult to eat that much when you're not used to. By drinking between your meals, you can easily add up healthy calories. </li>
<li><b>Last meal:</b><br />While a lot of healing and regeneration happens overnight, give your body something to work on. Preferably proteins like casein, or even a peanut butter avocado wrap with vegetables and lean meat. </li>
<li><b>It's the small steps: </b><br />Always remember to be patient.Weight gain is just a process like weight loss. Sometimes it takes longer than expected, but don't give up on hope. Set attainable goals that seem realistic and reachable in 2 or 3 weeks, and then set another tiny goal. If you reach a goal every 2 or 3 weeks, you will stay motivated on your health journey. </li>
<li><b>Support: </b><br />Make sure to have a supportive and positive surrounding that helps you achieve your goals and deal with emotional issues when it comes to body changes. Appreciate your new body and how it looks in the mirror. </li>

Pheww... That was a long season with great experiences, awesome moments and powerful actions. </div>

Now that the competitions are over, I already set my goals for the next season but this time I will go for higher ambitions. While there are three more shows waiting for me , I am still sticking to my strict diet for the following two months. Therefor I decided to take a break in autumn, so my body can recover 100% from these straining diets and training routines before attacking the preparation for the next spring season.</div>

Of course I will maintain a healthy and balanced diet, just as intense gym sessions. I mean I don't want to turn into a jiggly-puff over summer and have struggle to lose that extra fat and water again in 2016.</div>

With hindsight, I have to say that I am very proud of myself and about what I achieved this season.Remember when I was talking about my New Year's Goals (Resolutions) ? Well I have attained them ALL. The beginning of tis year could not have been better. I got a Top3 twice at the International Championship (J-M.B.Open) in Luxembourg, I mamanged (thanks to you) to participate at the Miss FIBO Power Beauty Contest 2015 with my best shape so far and I qualified for the International NAc World Championships in Warsaw. </div>

Even thought I wasn't in the best shape for the World Championships, I am happy that I did my best and that I hold strong during this entire preparation. It wasn't easy at all, especially the last few days... Oh hell no, how often did I play with the thoughts to throw the towel, just because of the food... It was a tough prepration because my body wasn't 100% ok , so I can't show 100%on stage, but that's totally ok. I've learned from it and this won't happen again. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am already looking forward to 2016, I hope (and train) for my personal best and that I achieve all my goals again. </div>

Concerning the upcoming shows, there will be one on the 21st June, 11th and 18th July here in Luxembourg. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our team athletes will perform a guest posing at the FSR Motorshow on the 21st of June in Belval to support kids in their fight against cancer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On the 11th of July, Powerfood's J-M.B launches its annual jaarmarkt in front of the shop in Kahler where you can benefit from exclusive sales, yummy and healthy food and of course enjoy our posing shows and choreography throughout the day.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We are also guest-posing for a good cause at the charity event Télévie 2015 CHEM Bikers.</div>

Yesterday we came back from Warsaw, Poland, where the International NAC World Championship took place and I have a lot to tell you...<br />
<br />
We were leaving last Friday early in the night to head over to Charleroi Airport where we took the plane to Warsaw. Arrived in Warsaw at the hotel we still had to wait a little until our rooms were ready. But that wasn't a big issue since I had my meals at hand and a great team around me with lots of humor. So the time passed pretty fast, and same goes for the time spent in the waiting line for the registration.<br />
I met some other athletes from different countries, who all seemed very nice... even though they were all depleting.<br />
<br />
Afterwards I was so happy to just lay down in my bed and think about nothing than my next meal before I went sleeping. It also came very handy that the competition itself took place in the hotel. <br />
<br />
On Saturday I didn't have to hurry in the morning as it only took me 2 minutes to enter the competition facilty, which was actually 3 floors under my room. So convenient.<br />
After being dolled up with my stage-makeup, jewels and tan, I went down to the backstage area to warm up, but I couldn't. Unfortunately my body didn't cooperate with my mind and I had some serious circulatory problems. Yes I know that's normal when you're dehydrated, but I never felt this bad on my previous competitions.<br />
As this season's goal was to qualify for the World Championships, I already achieved all my goals (also the Top3 ranking at the J-M.B Open and participation at the FIBO contest). Thus I tried to make the best out of this situation and decided to still step on stage. Of course my presentation was far from being the best, but I didn't gave up and stayed on stage. <br />
<br />
In the evening, during the finals, my circulatory problems were gone because I ate some cookies and had water. The first round of the finals was in the evening-dress, and oh my goodness, I have never seen so many beautiful dresses at the same time. They were just fabulous.<br />
<br />
Like always, the last round was in the bikini again, where I also recieved my participation-medal, of which I am very proud.<br />
I know that I did my best during the preparation, and I also know that my shape could have been better, but sometimes things just don't work the way you planned it and that's something you have to learn from for future shows.<br />
<br />
To finish this exciting day, the whole team went for dinner at the hotel restaurant were everyone of us enjoyed an epic cheatmeal and some drinks at the bar afterwards.<br />
<br />
On Sunday we went for some sightseeing in Warsaw and of course ate that one or another delicious cheat. It was a super pleasant day and it felt like being a little family. We were all getting on well with each other and again I realized how lucky and glad I am to be part of this team or let's say fitfamily. That's what a great team is all about. Getting on well with each other, joking around but still being serious when it comes to competing and being 100% honest and supportive with each other.<br />

Today I want to present to you THE pumpingfairy of the week. </div>

<a href="https://instagram.com/jimmy_nutella"><b>Jimmy_Nutella</b></a>, as he calls himself on Instagram , was 265lbs at the age of 19 as he mostly ate crap in school and didn't know how to eat clean and evaluate calories...The result: obesity.</div>

Over 2 years he lost about 123lbs and changed his life. Because he knows how hard it was to reach this amazing goal, he raised a project called 'be fit in Highschool, fight obesity'.</div>

When he started to work as a geography teacher in highschool, he didn't only educate the teens about geography but also about health. He gave advices on how to eat clean and tasty at the same time, how to stay motivated and how to workout by still enjoying it. He showed them what inspiration and dedication means. The feedback of the students was so big that he created a fitness area at their school to fight obesity,as we have a lot of students who can's afford a membershp in the gym and want to workout in a group after school to stay motivated. So his project was born. </div>

15% of the students have to lose weight. His aim is to help them reach their goals and don't experience the same struggle his had back in the years. To draw their attention to a healthy lifestyle he organizes camps , spinning classes, outdoor fitness and nutrition workshop and courses. </div>

Fortunately he managed to change his life and he wants them to change their life as well. Staying focused and strong is an ability that can change a lot and only by strengthening the mind we can reach our goals. </div>

Unfortunately the school doesn't have the right equipment for his project, either it's overaged or broken, plus the school doesn't have any budget to support his project. </div>

What have you been up to yesterday?</div>

As for me, I got up a little earlier to hit my fasted cardio. I decided to do this at the gym because it was a little fresh yesterday morning and I seriously don't want to risk a cold or something. </div>

In the late afternoon I went back for my leg session, the 2nd for this week, and of course another cardio session on the bicycle to finish this workout. I think it would be a good idea to rent a little room in the gym and live there for the next two weeks, so I don't have to drive from my home to the gym twice a day. Would be very time-saving , wouldn't it? </div>

I am so glad that I am on holiday next week and until the world championship is over so I can focus on nothing but my preparation: Train. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. That's what my next two weeks will look like. I will also take advantage of my free time to go tanning or to the sauna to relax and lose a bit more water too. </div>

When a friend or a family member has made the commitment to start competing, he/she is about to make an incredible lifestyle change and believe me or not, it's everything but easy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Being a competitor myself , I can give you one advice: be supportive as a friend or family member. I experienced this during my first prep myself, I had ups and ,mostly, downs and I had a lot of mood swings, like being that cute little gismo gremlin and a minute later I was the 3rd generation gremlin, being all grumpy and angry.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
To prepare for a contest you are pushing yourself beyond your limits, physically and mentally. So what you say to a competitor-beginner can have a very negative or a positive impact on your relation, during the preparation or after the contest. Therefore I made a list of things you better keep to yourself.</div>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
<b>1. 'Don't build up too much muscle': </b></h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This one is as old as the hills. I can't hear it myself anymore.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before saying this to your friend, ask your friend to explain his new passion to you. I'm well aware that when someone tells you that they start competing in bodybuilding contest, you are likely to think about Arnold Schwarzenegger or about the real bodybuilding women, right?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
No worries: If it was that easy too build muscle in such a short period, oh heaven I think everybody would be a bodybuilder. It takes decades of intense training and dedication to reach such a level. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Whether you like it or not, a strong women is beautiful too. I respect every athlete and every category of bodybuilding competitions because in every category you have to work hard to reach the physique you want.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And you should respect every athlete too, since they all have to work off their butts. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
2. 'You are training too much' :</h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Oh my... I don't even remember how often I was told this.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It may sound crazy when your are told that someone is working out for hours, 5 times a week and dedicating their spare-time to training, cardio and meal preparations. It sounds like a huge sacrifice, but for a competitor it's not. For them it has turned into a lifestyle that is everything but average. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before I started competing, I was partying every weekend once or twice, went to bars, restaurants or to the movies almost every weekend. Now, the last time I was at a restaurant was for Christmas, which was also the last time I went to a club. (Plus, we left very early as I wanted to workout the day after...)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So don't molest your friend when he/she doesn't want to go out to be fit the day after in order to hit an intense training routine. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
3. 'You have become too skinny':</h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Funny how fast the coin can flip...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before the prep you said that your friend shouldn't become too muscular, now you are telling them not to become too skinny. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The closer a competitor gets to the D-Day, the more body fat they are about to lose and it seems like they have become super skinny. But no, they have just become leaner, and they will lower their body-fat percentage even more the closer the show comes. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Usually a competitor only remains that lean (or skinny how you would call it) for a short period of time, namely for the show day and sometimes for photo shoots post-contest. In the 'off-season' they are more likely to have that 'healthier' look again, except for some fitness models. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
4.'Come on, One bite won't kill you':</h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well yes, it will.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One bite will just lead to another tiny bite and another and another... </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Pretty fast your friend can get completely 'off track' , lose the focus and all the previous weeks and months of training and dieting will be lost. So yes, one bite can 'kill'...someones goals.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When you enter a contest-prep it's all or nothing. When your goal is to push beyond the limits, well then you have to change your priorities. A first time competitor will learn that food is fuel and that the connection they once had with fast food won't be so powerful anymore.So instead of forcing them to have one bite, support them and don't give them no bite at all, even when they are about to get really mad. You have to stay supportive (and strong) to resist. </div>

And here some words to my kindred spirits:</div>

Bodybuilding competitions are challenging and with continuous effort you will grow strength. You are about to learn what is good and what is bad for your body, you will try out different types of diets and training routines. Always keep in mind that it's a journey. You will be criticized by people so often that a supportive and motivating surrounding becomes very important for your journey. </div>

When you are competing, it doesn't matter what other people say or think about you and your physique. You will always find yourself with people that don't accept your lifestyle. </div>

Being now 3 weeks out of my last contest for this season, I am more motivated than ever. </div>

Even if the competition season will be over in 3 weeks, this doesn't mean that I will stop eating the healthy way. I am not saying that I 'have to' eat healthy and balanced but I want to keep a good shape since there are still some events left where my team and I will perform posing routines and represent our team.</div>

Plus, it's like eating potato chips, you don't eat just one single chip... </div>

I have never been in such a great shape and never felt that good and comfortable in my own body that I never want to miss this feeling anymore. And summer is just around the corner and who doesn't want to be in shape for summer, right? </div>

Talking about getting in shape I have to say that I am very proud of my pumpingfairies working out almost everyday and staying motivated all the time. Slowly the sun is warming our faces with its cozy rays, flowers are blooming and we can finally hit our cardio and core session outdoors without risking a flue or a bad cold. With the weather getting better I am more motivated to do my cardio sessions, and I am convinced that I am not the only one. </div>

So I was more than happy when I could go for my very first rollerblading session yesterday during lunchbreak. Oh how I missed this... Some years ago, I always had to hit a 30min cardrive before I could finally rollerblade as we didn't have a good path around. Now, around my job place, I can easily hit my daily cardio as the walkway is wide enough to pass the pedestrians and it's evenly flat. The perfect conditions for rollerblading. </div>
